The Mid-Michigan Woodworkers Guild held their annual Christmas dinner/ fund raiser at the Dewitt Memorial Building on December 1st. This year funds were raised to support a toy project for the SIREN/Eaton Shelter.
Each year MMWG solicits local and national companies for donations of woodworking related items. The donations are assembled on three tables for everyone’s viewing. As each number is announced, the lucky ticket holder gets his or her choice of the tools remaining on the table. This year’s raffle grand prize was a Rikon 14″ deluxe bandsaw model 10-325.

On the opposite side of the room were three tables displaying the “Show & Tell” items. Among the many beautiful projects you could find a music stand, jewelry box and of course wooden toys. Some of the work too large to sit on the tables included a refinished baby high chair, end tables and Cherry headboard.
The evening started with a mixer, which included nearly 60 attendees catching up on their latest wood projects and inspecting the three tables of donated woodworking tools and related items.
For dinner we enjoyed delicious pizza, bread sticks, spaghetti and salad. The meal was rounded out with a trip to the dessert table. A delectable selection of cookies, pies and sweet treats with names like Rocky Road Brownie or Red Velvet Cake had a few of us sneaking back for seconds.
The DeWitt Boy Scouts were upstairs engaged in a fast paced game of dodge ball. It is the season of sharing, so we invited the boys to share in our food, desserts and drink. Some may say this was a bribe to stop the noise on the wooden floor above us, but it was genuinely done in the spirit of the season.

The following morning MMWG members delivered pans of leftover spaghetti and bread sticks to the Lansing City Rescue Mission.
